The 1861 Project

When we established Cronin Creative six years ago, we made a promise to ourselves – to indulge all of our creative impulses at every opportunity, to free ourselves to do all that we do creatively. Happily, we’ve been able to do that, and there’s one project in particular that really illustrates that philosophy in action.

The 1861 Project is an ongoing series of groundbreaking CD releases featuring a unique mix of music and history. With new, original songs that bring to life the stories of the real people who fought and lived through the American Civil War, the Project is comprised of two critically acclaimed CD volumes with another on the way.

An impressive lineup of writers, musicians and singers (including names like Marty Stuart, Connie Smith, Jerry Douglas, Sierra Hull, John Anderson and Maura O’Connell) came together to bring The 1861 Project to life.

Working with producer/guitarist Thomm Jutz, Peter Cronin was there from the Project’s conception, co-writing a good portion of the songs and contributing in-studio vocals throughout. Meanwhile, Karen Cronin stepped up as art director, designing CD packaging, posters and a wide range of marketing materials.

Upon the release of Volume 1, Peter Cronin the marketer kicked in, writing bios and press releases, and serving as publicist (the CD received tons of great press!). Phew……
